Queen Elizabeth II news: Queen opens Sandringham to royal fans for special movie nights | Royal | News

The Queen is opening the gates to her private estate for a unique drive-through movie experience. The first outdoor cinema night will be on Friday 25 September.

Movie fans will be able to buy tickets from £32.5 for a variety of films including 1917, Toy Story, Rocketman, A Star Is Born and The Greatest Showman.

The official Sandringham Estate website said: “Enjoy a wonderful evening in the Sandringham Gardens with the backdrop of Sandringham House.

“Relax and enjoy one or both of these ever popular films whilst enjoying fabulous street food and refreshments from artisan brewers and distillers.”

Movie goers can upgrade their tickets to get a deckchair, table, popcorn and a separate area next to their car.

Queen Victoria bought the Sandringham Estate in 1892.

The Sandringham house is located on a 20,000-acre estate in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

It was originally built for Edward VII, the eldest son of Queen Victoria.

Both the Queen’s father, George VI, and grandfather, George V, died in the Sandringham house.

The Firm shut the Royal Family’s tourist sites due to the coronavirus pandemic.

They have lost an estimated £18m over the summer.

The Queen reportedly reunited with Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children at Balmoral for the first time since lockdown began.

The Queen has been staying at Balmoral in a secure “bubble” since the start of August.

Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, also reportedly visited the Scottish estate.

Her Majesty and Prince Philip were previously self-isolating at Windsor Castle when the outbreak first began.

The pair travelled by car to the Royal Air Force station RAF Northolt, in west London, were they boarded a private jet to Aberdeen airport.

From the airport they headed for Balmoral, which is roughly an hour away.

Princess Eugenie is also believed to have visited in early August.

The Queen has visited Balmoral almost every year since the beginning of her reign.
