Prince Harry is celebrating his 36th birthday alongside his wife Meghan Markle and son Archie today. The family, who are now based in Santa Barbara in the US, made a showing exit from the Royal Family when the couple chose to stand down as senior royals. The move came not long after the pair’s iconic Royal Wedding, which saw millions around the globe tune in to watch the nation’s beloved Prince finally tie the knot. But since their perfect day, it seems their relationship with the Firm soured.
Harry and Meghan publicly spoke out about the pressure of royal life in an emotional interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby during their royal tour of Africa.
She told the ITV presenter she struggled with being in the royal spotlight, adding it was a “very real thing to be going through behind the scenes”.
The Duke of Sussex, too, voiced his concerns about protecting his new family.
And in an unprecedented statement, he said: “My deepest fear is history repeating itself. I’ve seen what happens when someone I love is commoditised to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person.
“I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces.”
Yet despite both speaking out about their unhappiness, many pinned the blamed on Meghan for the royal exit.
Royal fans aplenty turned on the Duchess of Sussex as the couple revealed their intentions to step away and to move to the USA.
But as the young Prince, who has always struggled with his royal role, turns 36 today, it seems there may have been another reason for his royal departure.
And that reason may well have been written in his fate from the day he was born.
For Harry, sapphires have another meaning. The sapphire ring which now adorns Kate, Duchess of Cambridge’s finger originally belonged to his mother, Princess Diana.
The ring was left to Harry after Diana was killed in 1997.
But when Prince William revealed he was going to ask Kate to marry him, Harry gave him the ring for his proposal.
But sapphires have another meaning for Harry as astrologists believe they promote clear thinking.
He and Meghan both revealed they felt “muted” in the Royal Family. And perhaps this clear thinking was exactly the push he needed to pursue a different life for his wife and son.
According to website Cafe Astrology, Harry – as a Virgo – has a “strong sense of responsibility”.
So perhaps the Prince realised that Royal Family life was not what his family needed after all.
Blue has also long been considered the colour of fidelity – and it’s not clear why he and Meghan are a good match as both their birthstones (Meghan’s is peridot) summon serenity.
Therefore it’s no wonder why the Prince put his family first.
