De La Hoya, a gold medallist at the 1992 Olympic Games, is regarded as one of the best fighters of all time and had a glittering career. 

He was rated as the Ring Magazine pound-for-pound number one for two years running, and won a staggering 11 world titles across six weight classes. 

He had two of the highest-grossing fights of all time, having fought Floyd Mayweather and Felix Trinadad in Las Vegas for obscene amounts of money.  

The Mexican-American defeated the likes of Julio Cesar Chavez, Pernell Whitaker, Arturo Gatti, Hector Camacho, Fernando Vargas, Felix Sturm and Ricardo Mayorga.
