United have responded to the rumours that they are looking into a shock transfer for Arsenal utility man Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Reports from Germany claimed that “the deal and paperwork [was] 80 per cent done”.
However, United have played down any interest in Maitland-Niles, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The versatile midfielder and full-back was thought to be on the brink of a switch to Wolves earlier in the summer, but a move broke down.
Alex Telles is understood to be United’s first choice signing for a new full-back, and the Red Devils are said to be in discussions with Porto over a deal for the Brazilian.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also looking to bring in Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
But if the Bundesliga side hold out on selling the Englishman, the Norwegian also wants to bring in a different winger, at least on loan for the season.
