Johnny Cash Elvis Presley impression singing Heartbreak Hotel | Music | Entertainment

Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley were incredibly popular and influential musicians during the second half of the 20th century. And upon his death in 2003, Rolling Stone said that Cash was the only artist other than The King to be inducted into both the Country and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame. In one video during the fifties, Cash can be seen doing an impression of his fellow Tennessean.

However, to show it’s all in jest, Cash clarifies that it’s an impression of a rock and roll singer doing an impression of Elvis.

The Man in Black messes up his hair, pops his collar and shakes his hips like The King.

Cash and Elvis once recorded at Sun Records studio in Memphis on December 4, 1956.

The Elvis movie was shooting at Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast, and is now set to pick up principal photography as soon as restrictions lift.

Speaking with Deadline, Baz revealed they had been preparing a Las Vegas residency scene during the 1970s.

The director said: “Tom guides in Austin [Butler] as Elvis, and it’s a scene where basically hundreds of girls are kissing Elvis, in a ‘70s show.

“We were rehearsing camera positioning, everything, and I’d done all the tests – Austin, Tom, and the whole cast was on fire. We were that close.”

Praising Elvis star Butler, Baz said: “During the testing process, his commitment, his transformative abilities from the young Elvis to beyond, he had been playing so very well.

“He was terrific. There was such great energy and excitement in the cast and company, about the show we were about to shoot.”

The film will depict the King’s rise to fame in the fifties through to his final years in the seventies.

The untitled Elvis movie will hit UK cinemas on November 5, 2021.
