Chelsea will kick off their 2020/21 Premier League campaign with a trip to the south coast to take on Brighton on Monday September 14. Frank Lampard’s men took four points off the Seagulls last season and will be desperate to get off to a good start when they visit the Amex Stadium.

Next up for Chelsea is a mouth-watering showdown with reigning champions Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on September 19, with a clash at newly-promoted West Brom on the cards off the back of that encounter.

Chelsea’s opening five fixtures are rounded off by a London derby against Crystal Palace and then Southampton’s visit to west London.

Lampard and club director Marina Granovskaia have now turned their attention to Kai Havertz, with the 21-year-old reportedly already happy with personal terms which have been offered.

Negotiations are ongoing with Bayer Leverkusen over a transfer fee, with the Bundesliga outfit valuing Havertz at £90m while Chelsea view £70m as a more appropriate figure.

Elsewhere, the west London club are on the hunt for a left-back but may baulk at Ben Chilwell’s £80m price tag so Sergio Reguilon and Nicolas Tagliafico are more affordable options.

Lampard also wants a new goalkeeper and another centre-back while the likes of Michy Batshuayi, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Emerson Palmieri are all expected to depart.
